Mark's RIAA Rant

In regards to our discussion in Show 28 about the RIAA and their fucked up rules regarding Podcasts, we had some discussions off-line about it and this page surfaced as a reference describing what's out there and which laws, exactly, we're breaking:

http://www.bestkungfu.com/archive/date/2005/02/podcasting-music-and-the-law

It's a very good page, but a bit old (circa 2005). It appears that not much has changed since then, except recently, the pricing structure has changed:

http://www.loc.gov/crb/

Specifically:

http://www.loc.gov/crb/proceedings/2005-1/rates-terms2005-1.pdf

Talking about the rates for Webcasts. Summary: That's pretty fucked up right there.

Jordy :

Yeah, looking around myself it sure looks like there is such a huge net out there that no sane person could reasonably navigate it. It's almost like they want to completely prohibit the little guy... hmmmm

hmm... Ya think?
