S.1353: Internet Radio Equality Act hits the Senate

HR.2060 now has a sibling in the Senate: S.1353. This is good news.

Now, you can contact your House Rep and Senators and please ask them to support HR.2060 and S.1353.

To summarize for those who don't know (and don't feel like reading my blog posts below or googling for it), these bills both un-do the egregious royalty rates that are going to be charged of net radio stations on July 15, retroactive to January 1, 2006. Yes, that's right. 1.5 years of back royalties that are anywhere from 3x to 21x (depending on who you ask) what they were before, and in most case, are many times the anual revenue of the station. This will effectively put net radio out of business, unless HR.2060 and S.1353 are passed.
