Hey, all, just a few things on this lovely Friday morning.
First, if (like me) you were a fan of Soul Coughing and are a semi-rabid Mike Doughty fan, you were thrilled to hear Phil In Long Beach come up randomly with "I Hear The Bells" on his 10th show (welcome back, Phil!) recently. That song is my favorite off of Haughty Melodic, Doughty's most recent album.
However! It is soon to be Doughty's previous album, as the new one is almost complete! They're doing photo shoots! It's almost here! Can you tell I'm excited?
Next, in case you wanted to take a look more in-depth at the lyrics for "Si Señor," I will link both the Spanish and the (possibly suspect) translation. If there are any readers who are fluent in Spanish who'd like to take a stab at it, please post a comment here!
What else? Hmmm...
Oh, yes. I know I play too much Clutch. I had to restrain myself this show, because I really, REALLY wanted to play Electric Worry. I had not fully gotten into 'From Beale Street To Oblivion' when we did our "recent music" show a few months back, and I played what is one of the worst songs from the album in my haste. In the interest of doing things differently, I'll post links to the videos, and you can visit them or not.
This is Electric Worry, probably the best song off the new album.
This is Burning Beard off of the excellent 'Robot Hive/Exodus' album. I have not yet played this song on the show, and probably won't, but I want to, because the lyrics are fucking great. The video is awesome, too. This song has probably overtaken Subtle Hustle as my all-time favorite Clutch song.
And finally, I know all you heathens are overjoyed that football season is starting up again. You should be ashamed of yourself, when historic events are occurring every day in the world of Major League Baseball. For shame.
