New Blog for Three Guys, Twelve Songs

We're trying to make this a real, legit Podcast, with a real website and everything. So, here, look! A website!

We've done three shows so far. It's pretty obvious that we're new to this, but they're getting better and better every show. I'm really excited about 3G12S and have had a fantastic time doing them so far. We're hoping to do one a week, although due to scheduling, we missed this week. Maybe will bang out two shows next week to make up for it. :)

A guest DJ this week, and, well, it's a little late.

Schedules conspired to prevent us from putting out a 'cast this past week, so we're going to do two this week. Watch for a new 'cast on Monday and on Wednesday.

Monday's show, we're going to have a guest DJ on, Pike's and my good buddy, Fade. Mr. Pike will be unavailable and has agreed to let Fade take his place this time around. So we'll have yet another opinion to throw into the frey.

I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day. And we'll see you on Monday.

Technical glitch turns DJs into Barry White, Next on Faux Nooz!

I'm not sure what happened. Seriously, I have no idea. But during the voice-over between Groove Armada and Ludacris, all our voices dropped down a few steps. I think it has something to do with Skype setting sample rates on devices and CuBase not picking up it. There's nothing I can do about it, so yeah. Barry White and Issac Hayes were guest DJs for a short time on today's show.

Show should be available in about 30 to 60 minutes or so. -Mark

Episode 4 is up

Episode 4 is up: here

You can also subscribe to the Podcast, also by looking for us in iTune by the name: "Three Guys, Twelve Songs."

Today's show is much more down-tempo that previous shows. Not quite sure why, but it ended up that way. :)

We would also like to thank our guest DJ, Phil Eurs! Great selection, Phil!

Headline Nooz: Barry White and Issac Hayes visit proved to be a hoax!

Figured out the pitch shift. The Groove Armada song we played was recorded at 48kHz. I won't go into the technical details of the recording rig for the show, but the short version is that WinAmp and CuBase share a Layla Echo (an older version of this thing) So when WinAmp started playing at 48kHz, the whole Layla switch sample rates, but CuBase didn't notice, so it was still recording data as if it was getting it at 44.1kHz. The same amount of data covered a shorter amount of time, so it got slowed down, thus the pitch drop.

So. Mental note, make sure that _ALL_ songs are recorded at the same rate, or else add YET ANOTHER sound card to my system so that everything can have its own. Or, somehow make Jack work in Windows.

Anyway. I wanted to apologize for this, and make sure y'all realize that Groove Armada doesn't sound like that.

New Show tonight, will go up tomorrow...

We put together a new show tonight, but I was practically falling asleep at the console. I've not been feeling well for the past few days, and have to spend all day tomorrow in front of a group of people doing a training session, so I don't want to kill myself tonight.

In the interest of surviving the next few days, I'm going to ask for y'all's patience and let me put off the post production of the show for another day or two. I'll try to get it posted tomorrow night.

Sorry for the delay. -Mark

Episode 5 is up

Episode 5 is up on iTunes now.

Mental note: when working with XML (eg: RSS feeds), you must escape the '&' character as '&'. :)

I wasn't feel well during this 'cast, so I'm a little down. But it doesn't show through too much, so that's good.

Episode 7 is up! Guest DJ Andrew Ranta, aka Phancy!

Good show tonight. Lots of stuff I've never heard before, thanks primarily to Mr Phancy, Andrew Ranta. Show is up and ready for download.

September 29, 2006

New Blog URL: www.3guys12songs.com

In Ep 7, we talked a bit about the URL and how I hadn't gotten off my ass and registered the domain yet. Well, today, I did it. New URL for the blog: www.3guys12songs.com.

The old URL will still work, but this is the preferred domain name now. Enjoy. -Mark

Episode 8 is up!

I've gotta run off to a Dr's Appt, so I can't get too wordy here. Short version: Episode 8 is up! Check it out.

October 9, 2006

Episode 9 is up

Holy cow, we've done nine of these things? Well, number 9 is up... number 9? number 9? number 9?

Also, there's a bit of an easter egg out there for ya to find. I won't give any details on how to find it, but it's not hard to figure out. It's a little behind the scenes look at what kind of silliness happens when the music is playing. I'd be interested to hear if anyone finds it.

Hell, I'd be interested to hear if anyone is _READING_ this. :)

October 19, 2006

Episode 10 is up!

My theme this week: Songs about cars, or auto accidents. I would just like to state for the record that uninsured, unlicensed motorists can suck my hairy left nut.

Special thanks to Mike, aka Speed, for being a guest DJ this week! :)

Sorry for the delay, folks. This show was recorded Monday night, but back pain prevented me from sitting in front of my computer long enough to finish the post production until tonight.

October 24, 2006

And like that, *poof* Episode 11 is up.

This episode was kinda weird, but fun. Somehow, 15 songs squeezed in when we weren't looking. :)

Episode 12 is up! Happy Birthday, Jordy!

Well, 32 years ago today, the world was blessed with the presence of one Jordy Peter Jensky. That's right, it's Jordy's birthday. And in celebration of this, I did the show tonight in my birthday suit...

...yes, I'm joking. Stop poking your eyes out, it's ok.

But, we did have a rawkus good time on the show tonight, a Birthday Show celebrating Jordy and what he's done for us, or more to the point, to us. IMHO, our best show yet; certainly the most fun to do. I can only hope it is as fun to listen to as it was to do.

..and, Bonk's Keeper, you'll want to make sure to listen. You play an important role in the show tonight.

Happy Birthday, man. I wish you many more, and I hope to be there with you for them.

Oh! The show! Yes. It's available, as always, on iTunes under "Three Guys, Twelve Songs" (who would've guessed), or you can download it here.. Enjoy.

Birthday Shows - not just for Stern! (Episode 12 online)

Well, since no one else has updated the site, I'll take the duty! It was Jordy's birthday yesterday, and we unloaded what we unanimously feel is our best show yet. Chock full of banter, ribbing, roasting and basic goofiness, this one was a good 'welcome back' from my vacation. Thanks to all the guest DJs, and thanks as well to all (3? 4?) of our listeners - keep listening! We intend to keep as faithfully to our once-a-week schedule as possible, and things look to get interestinger as we uncork more theme shows and other hijinks.

Peace out! Happy Halloween!

November 8, 2006

Episode 13 is up! Drop yer Panties and Listen!

This week's theme: Panty Droppin' Music! Barry White, Deep Forest, Jamiroquai and more!

For those who don't like using iTunes: Download the MP3 directly

November 14, 2006

Episode 14 is up! A "normal" show tonight

...at least, as normal as our shows ever get. Owen's on the road again, so on the phone again.

Tonight's Voice Over music is appropriately titled "Stinky." I have to apologize in advance to my wife and her Super Mutant Pregnant Nose; she has the most sensitive sense of smell right now, and I'm about to subject her to the aftermath of Indian Buffet for lunch. ...maybe I should sleep in the other room...

Anyway. I assure you, Apple hasn't made the iSmell yet, so you're safe to download tonight's show. Enjoy.

If you don't get your 'casts from iTunes, grab it here

November 27, 2006

Episode 15 is up! All Zep, all the time...

Crap! I forgot to post this last week! I'm sorry, folks. Episode 15 is up. It was an All Led Zeppelin show. 'twas a very good show indeed.

I also added Tribute.mp3 as an "Extra" issue in the RSS feed, so you should get it automatically. Or you can just listen here.

Next week's (read: tomorrow's) theme: F*cking Metal!

November 28, 2006

Episode 16 is up! Fucking Metal!!!!

Tonight's theme is FUCKING METAL! Good show. I enjoyed it greatly.

For those who don't want to do iTunes, download it here.

Enjoy.

December 9, 2006

Episode 17 is up! Theme: Shuffle.

Sorry for the late publish on this; work and headaches conspired against me and prevented me from doing the post production on this show until this weekend.

Better late than never, though! This week's theme: Random Music. Stick your player on shuffle and pick the first four songs, for better or worse.

You can download the show directly here too.

December 12, 2006

Episode 18 will be delayed...

Nothing ever goes to plan, particularly when the weather or human physiology is concerned. Presently, Mark and his wife are at the hospital awaiting the birth of their daughter. For some reason the hospital won't let him record on-site. Crazy people! So please take a moment and wish good thoughts for Mark, Cindy, and the impending arrival of Zoe, and we'll see what we can do about episode 18 as soon as possible.
Thanks Everyone!

December 25, 2006

Baby Zoe is here! Episode 18 will hopefully be not too far off.

Hey everyone. Sorry for the delay of the next episode. As Jordy posted, I'm now a dad. Zoe came a little over 4 weeks early (ask Dr. Google about Preeclampsia if you're curious why) so I never had the chance to train Jordy on the engineering of the show; we had time scheduled the week that Zoe came to do just that.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that Jordy is having to figure a lot of it out on his own, due to my complete and utter lack of time right now. I'm helping him out little bits at a time, and of course, we have the holidays right now, so...

I'm going to make a real quick "episode" so people who subscribe, but don't read the 'blog, will know what's going on.

Thanks for your patience, everyone. We will be starting this up again after Jordy has the engineering down, and we can start getting some guest DJs.

Be good humans.

Episode 18: Baby Steps (pun definitely intended)

Good morning all! I'm happy to report that we recorded a new episode last night after a monthlong hiatus! We featured a special guest DJ and lots of silly banter as we shook the dust off. The 'cast is not yet available, as our newly appointed Chief Engineer (Jordy) has some learning curves to swing at, but it should be available very soon, and we plan to get back on the weekly track starting with this one!

It's good to be back!

January 14, 2007

Word from Jordy: Next Episode eminent

I just got an email from Jordy asking for a last bit of help before releasing the show. I'm waiting for Zoe (my daughter) to finish nursing so I can change the diaper, weigh her, and put her to bed, then I'll call Jordy and hopefully we'll get a show out to y'all tonight. :)

January 17, 2007

Episode 18.2 in the can!

Greetings All! There's a bit of a stutter-step with episode 18, but now it's up! Technically, it's 18.2, but whatever you want to call it, the first show engineered by me is in the can, and I'm quite happy with it.
Many thanks go to Mark and Owen for being patient with my learning curve, and especially to Mark for helping me go from zero to, well, 18.2 with Cubase. Mad props, yo.
Which reminds me, too, thanks to my wonderful wife, Anna, as our guest DJ on this show. She's so passionate about music that it was an honor to do a show with her.
Thanks again! Enjoy 18, and we'll get going on 19 as soon as possible.

March 1, 2007

Been awhile, 'eh? Episode 23 being recorded tonight.

So, uh, we're dorks and haven't updated the Webpage in _FAR_ too long. I'm fixing that now.

Hopefully, y'all are listening to the shows. No, we haven't disappeared, we're still doing shows. We're just neglecting the webpage. Thanks to former guest DJ and religious listener Speed for reminding us about the neglected webpage. :)

Tonight's show is going to be very special. I'll wait for Jordy to announce the theme before talking about it here, but suffice to say, it's going to get emotional. It's going to be good. Tough, but good.

I'll post again in a bit when we're done with the show. Stay good, stay alive and stay tuned.

March 13, 2007

Silver Episode, Ep 25, will be up, probably tomorrow morning.

We recorded episode 25 last night. Theme: Covers. I think it was a great show.

My wife Cindy came in and took a picture of Zoe and me while we were recording the show.

My god, my office is a bloody mess...

I'm the big one, with the beard. Zoe is the little, cute one.

April 3, 2007

Working on Show 27 tonight.... ...be afraid...

Theme tonight: Guilty Pleasures.. Be afraid... Be very afraid....

New logo for Three Guys

See, the problem is that when I first listed the show on iTunes (and, hell, for 27 shows after that), we never had a show logo. I've had an idea in my head that was original, in that I didn't get the idea from anywhere except my own creativity, but is _NOT_ original, in that many other people have already done it. But, I had a bit of time recently while doing something else, so I whipped this together:

Pretty simple, I know. I've updated the RSS feed for the new image, but last I checked (right now), the iTunes store hadn't picked it up yet. What do I have to do to get them to pick it up! Sheesh!

Oops, strike that... New image is on iTunes now

I didn't go far enough. They have the image on the page for our show, but not the thumbnail in the page that lists the podcasts. That's kinda a bummer. :-P

Introduction of the "Three Guys 'cast Network"

Good buddy of the show, and previous guest DJ (the _FIRST_ guest DJ, if I'm not mistaken), Phil Eurs has just published his first 'cast, Sad With Rain. Apparently, there's a story to this name that he'll tell eventually; I just thought it was a cool turn of words. :)

The show is similar in style to ours, except that it's about 30 minutes long and is more music, less talking. Which, honestly, it easier for me to listen to at work, so I'm looking forward to more shows. :)

He's submitted the show to iTunes, but it hasn't shown up yet; still trying to figure that one out. For the time being, go to the link above and add it to iTunes yourself.

Enjoy!

May 2, 2007

Episode 30 is up!

Episode 30 is up! Theme: New Music. Kinda a reversal of last week's theme.

Also, in this episode is the discussion about Save Net Radio that I posted about in the last blog entry.

Enjoy.

May 7, 2007

Episode 31 is in the can: Story Songs.

I'm exporting Episode 31 right now. It's amazing how fast I can get a show out the door when my daughter is behaving well enough for my wife to take her for the evening. (Thank you Cindy! I love you!)

Tonight's was a good show. I'm looking forward to listening to it.

As promissed on the show, we'll post links to lyrics for our song selections. Here are mine:

Enjoy. The show should be posted shortly.

Updated 12:09am (Pacific): The show is up and downloadable. Enjoy.

May 13, 2007

Slight changes to the blog...

I've been playing around a bit with the blog's layout. Most notably, I've added a link to the RSS feed for the show, and included our logo in the header. I'm trying to find an easy way to have the blog automatically link to the individual shows, at least the most recent few of them. I'm still working on this.

Anyway. Enjoy.

May 22, 2007

Episode 32 is in the can...

I'm exporting Episode 32 now: Great Collaborations. 'twas a good show!

The intro music was a continuation on Jordy's sub-theme for the night. I found a Bob Marley/Roots collaboration of "Burnin' and Lootin'." Very cool.

Update: It's up! Enjoy.

May 31, 2007

Show 33 is in the can: Songs For Our Dear President, Bless His Soul...

Just got finished recording Show 33. Jordy is doing the engineering, so I suspect it'll be posted tomorrow or the next day.

Theme: Political Music, with a potential Sub-Theme of Songs For Our Dear President.

Question from the Show: Why is it that you can get away with saying just about anything about someone as long as you preface it with one of: "With all due respect..." or "Bless his soul, but..." or "I'm just sayin'..." Can someone explain that to us?

"With all due respect, Mr President, you're a fucking idiot." See? It works!

"Our President has the IQ of a turnip; bless his soul..." This is amazing!

"What a fuck-wit.... I'm just sayin'..." Truly, one of the wonders of the 'merakin language...

June 15, 2007

Episode 34 is up! Summer Time Songs

Episode 34 is up. Enjoy everyone.

I really enjoyed this episode. It felt like our energy level was back up, we were in the zone, so to speak. The music is fantastic and lots of good discussion.

I hope you enjoy it.

July 14, 2007

Episode 35 is up!

So, uhh... I've had a rough week. We recorded Episode 35 last week... ...and, uh, Episode 36 last night...

Yes, I posted Episode 35 after we recorded Episode 36. I'm just glad I got Episode 35 _posted_ before Jordy has posted Episode 36.

We're really sorry for the long delay. Life has been kinda crazy, to put it mildly...

August 16, 2007

Doing post now, hopefully the show will go up tonight...

The subject says it all. This was a really good show, guys. Twas fun.

...thoughtus interruptus... You're a damn freak, Owen. But that's why we love you. :)

I also wanted to point something out to folks: We've been doing this thing for over a year now! Can you believe it? That's insane! That's awesome! All at the same damn time!

August 27, 2007

Show 39 is-- Crap! Pike beat me to it!

I came to the blog to post that I just got Show 39 up on the RSS feed, and to my surprise, Pike beat me to it. Wow, man. Your breath must smell like fish, it's so bated...

...just ignore me.

New Show, Ep 41, is ready! ...but not posted...

Episode 41 is ready, but not uploaded yet. The problem is that our hosting service has lost their DNS servers, it appears. Hopefully they'll be back on-line by morning and I can upload then.

For now, you'll have to get by in life just knowing that the show is done and post-produced and ready to go, once our hosting site pulls their heads from their asses. :)
